Project: The Hermitage, Corsham

Works: Soil nails to stabilise an existing masonry wall.

Equipment used: Excavator mounted drill mast

Project Details:

C&J Geotechnical Services won this design and build contract to stabilise an old masonry wall. The wall in places had already collapsed so time was of the essence. Cored holes were firstly drilled through the wall to limit vibrations when installing the 6.0mtr long fully galvanised soil nails. Due to the wall being next to a public highway we used our bespoke “pedestrian plates” , these bearing plates have the nut and the end of the soil nail buried within the wall to ensure that pedestrians do not come into contact with any protrusions, 77 soil nails were installed in a timely manner..
