Project: Ashton Under Lyne, Towpath

Works: Installation of soil nails and structural mesh to enable widening of towpath.

Project Details:

A national civil engineering company contracted C&J Geotechnical Services to supply and install 40no soil nails to an excavated embankment, R32 fully galvanised self - drilling soil nails were installed to 5.0mtrs depth , the sacrificial drill bit used was 150mm diameter , 300mm square plates were used to fix the mesh , ground conditions consisted of soft to firm clays. Due to restricted access the soil nails were installed using our 8 tonne excavator mounted mini mast. The soil nails were installed in a two day period with the mesh fixed one day after.
